Mombassador Sophie preparing to body surf during a vacation in Outer Banks, N.C.

Who? My first official Mombassador, Sophie Plante, IT specialist and mom of two kids, ages 8 and 12, from Longmont, Colo. (also a neighbor and dear friend)

What? Family reunion

When? July 2014

Where? Corolla, Outer Banks, N.C.

Why the Outer Banks?

This 200-mile stretch of narrow barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina (and part of Virginia) is not only noted for its expansive beaches but also as the site of the Wright brothers’ first flight on Dec. 17, 1903.

The best part of the family vacation so far, Sophie says, is the unspoiled beaches and incredible waves.

“Our house has a pool and hot tub too, so it’s beach, then pool, then hot tub, then do it all again.” And at night? “Crab hunting on the beach.”
